You've breathed life into your characters, set up your plots, and depicted a world in which to immerse your audience, but you still want your novel or short story to be accessible and readable before you publish. You know it's time to hire a fiction editor, but you don't necessarily want to work with someone who will change the unique tone and style of your creative work. You've come to the right place.
With our fiction editing services, we begin with the assumption that, as a fiction author, you want an editor who will retain the originality of your imagination while ensuring that your readers understand how and why you're using the unique elements of the genre that you've chosen to employ, such as foreshadowing, irony, dialogue, characterization, and metaphor. Some authors want line-by-line revisions to accomplish this, while others only need editing for grammar and a final proofreading for minor, overlooked errors. For this reason, we offer two levels of editing for our fiction authors:
Copy Editing ($5/pg.)–Copy editing is for authors who feel that their tone, style, and voice are strong and clear but who need an editor for basic grammar, some word choice, spelling and typos, and punctuation. Our copy editing work includes a final, proofreading pass to check for minor mistakes and typos that might otherwise go to press, like misplaced periods and extra spacing.
Line Editing ($8/pg.)–If you'd like your style, tone, and voice to be stronger and more clear, you may prefer a line-by-line revision of your novel or short story. Line editing includes a copy editing and proofreading pass, but it focuses on revisions for clarity of style, tone, and voice.
